Bush warns on foreign oil dependence...

Geez, I have been "screaming" about this for twenty years!

Better late than never I guess, but what took so long for our president and most republicans to wake up on this very obvious and extremely serious problem?
Thousands dead and seriously wounded because of Iraq? What a damn shame it takes a tragedy like Iraq to finally wake some people up and take off their blinders.

After 9/11, Bush had the opportunity to bring the country together to search for alternative sources of energy. After all, many of the 19 hijackers were Saudis. If Bush had used that opportunity to turn American hard work and ingenuity towards the goal of producing a new breed of hybrid/electric cars and energy conservation, there's no telling where we'd be today.

Instead, he used that unity and political capital to go to War in Iraq.

Those are his priorities. It's very simple. Bush had the ability to do exactly what he wanted to do, and this is the path he chose. It says everything about his character.

Yes, it is a shame we now have people in charge in this administration who are so "inside the box" and narrow minded.
The people who ran the first Bush administration back in the early 1990's, as bad as they were, would most likely have done much better than the extremists who have "hijacked" the White House these days...
