The long emergency.

These are my comments on Kustler's thoughts:

America is in long term decay mode, and practically the only thing going for us is our powerful military machine, but what will happen when the oil starts running out?
And with human beings as a whole not exactly being "rocket scientists" or even remotely logical, not being able to control their sex drives as they pollute the planet with massive overpopulation, "peak oil" is coming sooner rather than later.
So unless we have a huge "man on the moon" style project to break our enslaving dependency on oil, the future looks very bleak for our kids.
The older generation will be very lucky to die off before the real suffering begins.
Yes folks, the future sucks, because it will take tremendous upheaval and tragedy to bring us real positive long term change in this country.
